A brief biography of William
RICHARDSON B. 1859 was published in the book The Tread of the Pioneers
written by Joseph H. Metcalfe, 1932
In this book, William is
referred to as "Billy Richardson" and is described as a great "booster"
of Manitoba. Apparently he did many things to promote the young province,
including donating the land on which they built the golf course in the
town of Portage La Prairie - for this, he was given membership number 001.
Somebody at the University
of Manitoba has indexed all the names mentioned in this book and put it
online in a PDF document
